Tip: how to find out the differences between similar Japanese words

What's the difference between 思う and 考える? 通す（とおす）and 通じる（つうじる）? 見る and 見かける and 見える? 見る and 観る and 診る and 看る and 視る (all みる)?

Basically I ask Google-sensei ^^;

The keyword is 違い（ちがい）which means 'the difference'. Just type all the similar words you're interested to know the difference and put 違い at the end, e.g.,

'思う　考える　違い'
'見る　見かける　見える　違い'
'見る　観る　診る　看る　視る　違い'

The search results should point to Japanese question-and-answer sites, such as oshiete.goo.ne.jp, chiebukuro.yahoo.co.jp (this is Japanese version of Yahoo! Answers) and okwave.jp. In most cases the question has been given a good answer.

Regarding Yahoo!知恵袋, 知恵袋（ちえぶくろ）means 'bag full of wisdom'. 知恵（ちえ） is wisdom while 袋（ぶくろ） is bag.

Tip: how to find 'news' sites for any topic in Japanese

速報（そくほう）

The two kanjis mean 'fast' and 'news' respectively. On Internet, website with 速報 attached to its name is usually an active website dedicated on a specific topic. Any new information related to the topic no matter how small would most certainly be posted onto the website quickly. If there isn't really any news available, they might post discussions related to the topic.

So if there's some topic you like, say certain game and anime, you can try searching 'topic name + 速報' in Google, e.g., ネプテューヌ速報, ラブライブ速報, 艦これ速報, etc. You would most certainly find websites that gather and bring the latest news to your topic of interest.
