手芸（しゅげい）handicrafts
when I was visiting a Japanese bookshop. It's a section where they put books for knitting etc.
芸 is apparently a kanji that means art, craft, performance etc.
What's interesting is, just like 忍者（にんじゃ）, 'person of stealth',
There's also 芸者（げいしゃ）
This kanji is indeed for that geisha:
So geisha literally means 'person of art'.
